Our Park Szczęśliwicki Campus (7th February)
Our Early Years British Primary school Warsaw would like to share what has been happening with you with weekly updates! This is what has been happening this week in our Park Szczęśliwicki Campus.
This week in EYFS we have been busy cooking our own Tomato sauce and pasta. We used this opportunity to make a Big information book. It has all the ingredients and utensils needed for this recipe as well as lots of language from the children talking about the process. So if you’re feeling the Italian vibe and want to make Tomato Sauce and Pasta, feel free to borrow our book. We reinforced the learning with using pasta to make lovely pasta pictures using different shapes and colours. We also used pasta to fill cups, counting the pasta and matching it to numerals.
This week, year 1 revised their knowledge of personal hygiene. We learned about how germs can make us ill and how germs can be spread. Then we practiced various hygiene practices that help prevent the spread of germs; including throwing used tissues in the bin and washing hands thoroughly. Year 1 made excellent progress in math; demonstrating understanding of place value using multilink cubes, dines blocks, pictorial and numeric representations. In literacy, we also made good progress with combining our phonics sounds and blending knowledge to our writing. We also started our final Jolly Phonics book (7) – completing year 1’s exposure to the 40+ phonemes. For our topic-based learning, we made use of a time-line to sort key events which occurred during the Great Fire of London.
Whilst the Year 2 children have been busy getting ready for Learning Success Day next week, they have also been excited to be learning about mass and capacity in their Maths lessons. Through hands on investigations, they have been estimating and testing their predictions about how much things weigh, and finding items that weigh more or less than a given amount. They also managed to find the time to design their very own space aliens after enjoying the poem “Aliens Stole My Underpants” by Brian Moses. Some very imaginative ideas arose and they will be on display in the classroom for you to enjoy.
