Our Park Szczęśliwicki Campus (31st January)

Our Early Years school in Warsaw (primary school Warsaw) would like to share what has been happening with you with weekly updates! This is what has been happening this week in our Park Szczęśliwicki Campus.

Early Years

This week has been extra busy in EYFS. Food, food, glorious food! We started with making mashed potatoes. The children did all the peeling and mashing themselves, as well as observing how they change when cooked “this one is hard and then it is soft”. We used potatoes to make our own fantastic potato people. Each one is different, just like us. Come and see our display soon, all about making Art with food. The children also did some shopping locally and had their own snack party. It was Chinese New Year on the weekend and to celebrate we made Summer Rolls as well as played with all things Chinese from chopsticks to filling traditional bowls with rice. We have been sorting beans by size and colour and counting how many spoons to fill up our bowls and cups to the top so they are full. Its been slightly messy but super fun.

Year 1

This week, Year 1 have made excellent progress with their core subject learning. In literacy we have been working hard on our handwriting skills as well as our blending and learning new, high-frequency, keywords. In numeracy, we have focused on place value. This week, all the year 1 pupils have demonstrated the ability to partition two digit numbers – both visually and numerically and add these numbers together again.

Year 2

The Year 2 TBS shop has been extremely busy this week. The children have been writing their shopping lists and then taking it in turns to be the shopper and the shopkeeper! Being a shopkeeper proved to be a lot harder work than the children expected. Children often see adults exchange coins and bills when they buy things. As children grow and start to make choices, they learn that people, things, and money have value. We researched some of the people whose pictures are found on paper money and coins and also played a shopping game on the interactive whiteboard.
