Thames British School is an inclusive international school and is open for admissions the whole year round. The admissions process is designed to ensure that pupils joining the school will flourish within the National Curriculum for England and enjoy their learning experience at our school. All parents and pupils are invited to meet the Head of Admissions who personally oversees every application with the support of the teaching staff.
We also host Open Days where you can come and visit us along with your child and get a feel for our school to see if it is the right place for you.
The Process of Admitting Pupils
Firstly, we always invite any interested parents and pupils to our school as we believe it speaks for itself. This can be requested via the Request a Visit link found below, emailing firstname.lastname@example.org or by calling the following numbers:
(+48) 574 797 778
Our phones are attended from Monday to Friday between 9.00am and 5.00pm.
From that point on, our Head of Admissions will proceed with your enquiry and guide you through our entry requirements.
Early Years Foundation Stage (Nursery – Reception)
We encourage you and your child to visit us and attend a trial session (up to one school day) in our classroom to experience both our social interactions and activities. This offers you, your child and their prospective teacher to anticipate how they will settle in.
Although we appreciate that children learn and develop at different rates, we can only accommodate children who have begun to use the toilet independently.
Children are not expected to have any prior experience of English. With our expert staff, they will acquire the language of communication and instruction.
Key Stage 1 (Years 1 – 2)
As with Early Years, we recommend your child spend at least one trial session and up to a full trial day in the classroom to experience the environment.
Under the Polish system, children are not expected to have had any formal education. Therefore, children are not required to have experience of English or phonic skills at point of entry. However, to assess their needs, we conduct and informal interview with your child, in Polish if preferred.
Key Stage 2 (Years 3 – 6)
In Key Stage 2, children are expected to have at least some experience of education. While we warmly welcome them to attend a trial session (up to 1 school day) and can use this to informally anticipate their needs, we will also interview them and ask them to complete a baseline task to enable us to make the best plan for their learning.
We request that any reports from previous schools are shared with us.
Completion of Admissions Procedure
After going through the entry requirements, you can fill in our Enrolment Form either in person or directly from the link found below and send it back to us at email@example.com.
We will then confirm a place for your child at our school and send you the necessary documentation. This will need to be signed and returned to the Head of Admissions.
You will receive further information about your child’s place at our school shortly before they start. This ensures they are fully prepared for their new school life here at Thames.
